Neighbor Stewardship Agreements
Neighbor Stewardship Agreements
How to improve your defensible space on Conservancy land
The California Tahoe Conservancy manages thousands of small open space properties throughout neighborhoods on the California side of the Lake Tahoe Basin. The Conservancy manages these properties to reduce wildfire risk, protect public safety, and to maintain and protect wildlife habitat and water quality.
In response to requests from neighbors, and as part of a 2026 pilot, the Conservancy is offering voluntary neighbor Stewardship Agreements within eight neighborhoods from May 1 through October 15, 2026:
- Agate Bay (north shore)
- Cathedral Heights/Comstock Acres (north shore)
- Kailua Park (west shore)
- Tahoe Hills/Rubicon Palisades (west shore)
- Al Tahoe (S. Lake Tahoe)
- Golden Bear (south shore)
- Lower Apache (south shore)
- Mewuk-Wintoon (south shore)
