The California Tahoe Conservancy invites you to participate in one of two public site tours about the Upper Truckee Marsh South project. Meet with Conservancy staff and share your ideas for future restoration and public access improvements at the south end of the Upper Truckee Marsh, including the site of the former Motel 6.
Spanish interpretation will be available throughout the tour.
When:
- Tour 1: Wednesday, May 14, 2025 – 3:00 p.m. Register now
- Tour 2: Wednesday, May 21, 2025 – 5:00 p.m. Register now

- Upper Truckee Marsh South property, South Lake Tahoe
- Meet behind the former Motel 6, near the west end of the South Tahoe Bikeway bridge. See map below for details.

Please arrive by walking, biking, or rolling if possible. Limited on-street parking is available on Ponderosa Street and Sunset Drive.
Accessibility:
- Accessing the Upper Truckee Marsh South site tour requires navigating the South Tahoe Bikeway (a paved Class 1 shared-use trail) for approximately 500 feet from the west end of Ponderosa Street, then moving off the paved trail onto a mostly level and firm dirt area adjacent to the trail. This area includes small obstacles such as grass and gravel. The site tour discussion will take place at this location, with no further stops. Please see the map below for additional details.
- The South Tahoe Bikeway between Ponderosa Street and the site of the tour discussion is mostly level, dropping approximately five feet in elevation from the end of Ponderosa Street and the location of the site tour.
- Parking along Ponderosa Street involves parking on or near a firm dirt road shoulder and then traveling along Ponderosa Street, a recognized Bicycle Route, to the start of the class 1 paved shared use trail near the bridge.
