Overview

The California Tahoe Conservancy is planning a project at Van Sickle Bi-State Park (Park) to improve visitor safety, connect the Park to nearby neighborhoods and state line with new shared-use trails, expand amenities, and improve access for all. Building on a 2019 vision plan for the park, the Conservancy is exploring options to improve the Park entrance, trails, and facilities.

In conjunction with the Van Sickle Bi-State Park Safety and Equitable Access Improvements Project, the Conservancy also proposes to build approximately 0.35 miles of the Dennis T. Machida Memorial Greenway (Van Sickle Connector), which will connect from Chonokis Road to the Van Sickle Shared-Use Trail, and which will also meet ADA accessibility requirements.
