Tahoe Conservancy Announces New Two-Step Process for Conservancy Grants
The California Tahoe Conservancy (Conservancy) announces a new two-step process to help grant applicants apply for funding through Conservancy grant programs. The Conservancy encourages applicants to visit its new web portal for grants at tahoe.ca.gov/grants.
The Conservancy is a state agency that leads California’s efforts to restore and enhance the extraordinary natural and recreational resources of the Lake Tahoe Basin (Basin). As the only state agency focused exclusively on the Basin, the Conservancy works collaboratively with its tribal, federal, state, local, and private partners to achieve this mission. Since its establishment in 1984, the Conservancy has invested more than half a billion dollars in conservation and recreation programs and projects on the California side of the Basin.
While the Conservancy awards most of its grants on a rolling basis, meaning you can apply for funding at any time, certain funding sources or programs may still involve funding announcements or specific requirements. Please contact grants@tahoe.ca.gov for more information.
Applying for funding involves a two-step process:
- Step 1: Submit a short pre-application. After reviewing your pre-application, the Conservancy may ask you to provide more information at the pre-application stage. If the Conservancy determines the applicant is eligible, the project supports the Conservancy’s strategic plan, and Conservancy funding is available for the project, the Conservancy will invite applicants to submit a full application.
- Step 2: Submit a full application.
Funding for Conservancy grants comes from voter-approved bonds and the California State Legislature, among other sources. Current and expected funds come from Proposition 4 (the Climate Bond), Proposition 68, Senate Bill 630, and climate and wildfire general fund packages passed by the Legislature and signed by Governor Gavin Newsom.
The Conservancy encourages potential grant applicants to review all the details on the new grants web portal, including information on eligibility requirements for grantees, projects, and programs. Visit tahoe.ca.gov/grants to learn more.
