With the new year, the State of California also has new leadership. Governor Gavin Newsom’s administration has hit a fast pace on issues of importance to Tahoe. On his first day, Governor Newsom proposed $105 million to tackle wildfire. He signed executive orders on risk management, modernizing the State’s use of technology, and building affordable housing on excess state lands. We also have new leadership at the California Natural Resources Agency, with Wade Crowfoot taking the lead as Secretary. Lizzy Williamson has arrived as Deputy Secretary for External Affairs, taking over for Todd Ferrara, who departed last fall.

We look forward to working with the new California administration—and with our back-to-work federal partners now that the federal shutdown has ended—to ensure we make progress for Tahoe in 2019.
