Tahoe Conservancy Releases Draft Plan of Restoration Alternatives for the Upper Truckee Marsh
The Tahoe Conservancy released a draft plan today to restore the Upper Truckee Marsh, Tahoe’s largest remaining wetland. The plan includes five alternatives to restore the health of the 600 acre marsh, improve fish and wildlife habitat, and provide recreational opportunities. Tahoe Conservancy Approves Major South Lake Land Deals and Policies
The Tahoe Conservancy approved several major land transactions and policies at its March Board meeting, including an option to acquire a key lakefront property along Highway 50, an exchange of several properties with the City of South Lake Tahoe, and a new set of guidelines to govern the sale of several surplus Conservancy lands. Tahoe Conservancy Board Approves Upper Truckee River Sunset Stables Restoration Project Negative Declaration
The Tahoe Conservancy approved the Upper Truckee River Sunset Stables Reach Restoration Project Negative Declaration at its March 2012 Board Meeting. The project will consist of the construction of 12,000 feet of new channel and is divided into two Reaches, 5 and 6. The Reach 5 portion will be constructed first and begin with the construction of Sunset Stables staging, stockpile facilities in 2012. Construction of access roads and the new channel in Reach 5 will occur in 2013 and 2014. After one year of vegetation establishment in 2015, the new channel will be activated by diversion of the river and the old channel filled in 2016, Final design and construction of the Reach 6 portion of the project will move forward once additional funding is obtained.
