Welcome to the California Tahoe Conservancy

The California Tahoe Conservancy was created in 1985 to restore and sustain a balance between the natural and the human environment and between public and private uses at Lake Tahoe.

Successful partnerships are integral to protecting Lake Tahoe’s unique environment. The Conservancy participates in and supports a range of partnerships with Federal, State, regional, local non-profit and academic agencies and organizations.

The mission of the California Tahoe Conservancy is to lead California’s efforts to restore and enhance the extraordinary natural and recreational resources of the Lake Tahoe Basin.
